Jason Vigil, P.E., S.E. is a consultant in Rochester, New York with more than 15 years of experience as a structural engineer specializing in buildings of varying complexity and is an adjunct professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I am in LOVE with Christine's Ebook, It's 90% Diet, 101 Weight Loss Recipes! Not only is there literally 200 pages of amazing recipes, Christine gives the best advice on dining out, portion control, and social occasions based on food. She warns you on the dangers of mindless eating (something I CONSTANTLY do without even noticing or think it was bad at all)! The best part about this book is that Christine gives her readers statistics and actual scientific facts as to why our brains are tricked into thinking a food so unhealthy for is thought to taste so good and tips on what we can do to get back on track as an individual and even society as a whole. This book will change the way you look at your food and completely change your life!!!

This book has been AMAZING with helping me get back to cooking healthy meals that are easy and delicious! My significant other has noticed a huge difference in the way he feels with just eating healthier lunches and dinners from this book! The first part of the book which talks about mindless eating and portion control helps you realize your guilty habits and adjust in the best possible way! I recommend this book to anyone who has lost their way in the kitchen when it comes to making meals or constantly eating out, this book will get you to where you want to be! I look forward to reading her other books as well!

This book is AMAZING! When you are trying to cut back on processed foods that you are eating and retrain your brain on different food ideas, it is hard. This book helps me by giving me healthy alternatives to foods that I was eating before my weight loss journey. It has helped me when I have a craving for dessert or salty foods. I can just go into the book and find a replacement to get me through my cravings. It is so well written and easy to follow. Thank you for an amazing book! I have been following your plan and I am down 11lbs in 14 days!!

About the Author
Author Corey Stulce was not hired to write the history of The State but was inspired to start writing this book after hearing Thomas Lennon say this at San Francisco Sketchfest in 2012: The secret to all of every industry, just start doing it, and they won t notice that they never told you to. If you want to be a hand model, just start doing it. Somehow people forget that they never gave you permission. Corey has interviewed and written about comedy legends from Mel Brooks to George Carlin and Phyllis Diller as well as contemporary humorists such as Judd Apatow, Paul Feig, Kate McKinnon and David Sedaris. His first book, Laugh Lines: Conversations with Comedians, was released in 2011. Corey spent a decade as a magazine/newspaper features and entertainment editor in the St. Louis metro area, and his writing has appeared on NBC and in newspapers and magazines all over the country as well as dozens of entertainment websites. A weighty tome, but packed with fantastic stories and insights!

What an awesome book! When it first arrived in the mail, I couldn't believe the size. This thing is over 580 pages! I really wondered why, because there can't be this much information on an old comedy sketch show that only I seem to remember. I started reading it, and was amazed by the amount of detail and the personal aspects of the stories from all the troupe members. Such an amazing insight into the process and dynamic of what I felt was the best sketch comedy show to come out of the US in forever.

It's really too bad that the interest isn't so high that a video version, with the actors and writers on camera speaking the text from the book, couldn't be created, as it would be just a fantastic thing to watch. But it would be hours and hours, due to the amazing amount of detail in here.

The editing of all these personal stories and thoughts must have been an enormous amount of work, and I'm really thrilled to get to read it. I hear the actors voices as I read along, and it makes it all that more interesting.

If you're a fan of the State you will absolutely love this book.

Chances are, if you're interested in this book, you love The State. This story will make you fall in love with these people in a whole new way.

There's nothing pretentious or groundbreaking about the format, and that's perfect -- the structure stays out of the way of the fantastic (often hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking) content. The 11 members guide most of the story, but the supporting cast really helps contextualize the unique and sometimes impenetrable genius and friendship that bonded this crew.

Hilarious History In Their Own Words

As a dedicated fan of The State since it's premiere on MTV in the 90s, I was extremely excited about this oral history. I've bought their travel guide, DVD set, comedy album and watched their solo projects over the years to get my fill of absurdist comedy at its finest.

This amazingly comprehensive book covers the whole story from the beginning to current day in great detail using the words of every member of the group. Wild stories of college partying, displaying punk rock comedy hubris at MTV, infighting over outside projects and more are culled from new interviews by Corey Stulce, who has created a fascinating read.

Most refreshing is that the stories show the love that all members of The State have for each other. Tales of hurt feelings, group discord and shady show business deals ultimately have a happy ending as these comedy siblings always find their way back to the bond that has made them the driving force of comedy evolution and innovation over the last 20 years.

Buy it, read it, scoff at the nascent Peter Panism of these fascinating and talented performers. You won't be able to put it down, I know I couldn't.

"

Magnus Nilsson (b.1984) is the head chef of F�viken Magasinet restaurant in Sweden. After training as a chef and sommelier in Sweden he worked with Pascal Barbot of L’Astrance in Paris before joining F�viken as a sommelier. Within a year he had taken over the running of the restaurant. He is featured on the most recent season of "Mind of a Chef" on PBS, originally aired November 2014.

Beautiful book about a unique place, difficult to find ingredients

Faviken is a beautiful book about the very unique cuisine served at the remote restaurant of the same name in Sweden. Most of the book consists of text explaining the restaurant, about the meat, fish, and plants used. there are gorgeous pictures as well throughout the book. I appreciate the authors efforts in capturing the unique use of local, sustainable food, and think this would be inspiring to others around the world to do similar things.

As a cookbook however that Americans might want to cook from, even professionally trained chefs will have a problem with it. Not because the ingredients that do have units are given in metric (80g dry-aged blade of beef, cut into a loin), but because the ingredients themselves would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for most cooks to track down.

Here are some recipes from the book:
'A tiny slice of top blade from a retired dairy cow, dry aged for nine months, crispy reindeer lichen, fermented green gooseberries, fennel salt'
and
'Thrush with drying mushrooms, fresh cucumber, fermented fennel and cottage cheese'
and
Hazelhen, fresh lingonberries, which calls for '3 perfectly shot and matured hazelhens, taken out of the fridge plenty of time in advance, hearts and livers reserved' as well as '6 handfuls very fresh lingonberries, attached with some of the tiny leaves (not the big woody ones).

I started to rather desperately turn to the root vegetables section for something I could cook, and found general methods of preserving them, and the same for vegetables. Recipes in the vegetable section include 'Fermented juice of mushrooms and oats' and 'Vegetables cooked with autumn leaves', both leaves from this year and last year.

So while it is a beautiful book to read and look at, and I am sure dining at the restaurant would be amazing, I doubt that I will ever cook from it. I don't think there is a single recipe I want to jump in the kitchen and make. I would have to do too many substitutions. Still, it is going to be a good historical book documenting very local foraging and game that will no doubt inspire others.

My mind is blown!

I am not the type to write a review of a cook book, not having cooked anything from it...or give it 5 stars, but it is almost impossible to cook any recipe in this book. That doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile read. I was stunned and amazed at the ideas here. I fancy myself a locavore, but this goes beyond what the average person can do to eat locally...mostly because of where the author lives and the access he has to these unique ingredients and the ability to do his own aging and butchering.

There are things in this book I could never conceive of. There is a recipe for a dish called Kalvdans, and the primary ingredient is a cow's colostrum. Yes...colostrum. He uses pig's blood to make little bowls and turnip leaves that "have never seen the light of day". To make the broth of autumn leaves, you've really got to think ahead...you need some leaves from the current autumn as well as some from last autumn. His ideas and recipes are astounding and beautiful.

So, this is not a cookbook to actually cook from. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get it...just don't buy it as a cook book, buy it for the story it tells. It is a new way of thinking about food. It gives you an amazing glimpse of a completely foreign way of life and way of eating. It makes you rethink why we raise and process and then eat products the way we currently do. The author has a love and respect of where food comes from and it really gets you thinking about how things maybe should be different. There's sections on how to butcher...everything. He even teaches you how to properly peel a carrot. In short, this book is magical.

Now...where do you think I can pick up some "perfectly matured grouse, innards reserved"...

No, I likely will never cure my own vinegar in a hollowed out birch stump, or learn the Japanese method of butchering whole fish before fermenting them. But the thing that is most stunning about this book is the cooking philosophy shared by Magnus Nilsson. Don't buy this as a cookbook, unless you are a serious cook- he is sharing all his secrets! Buy it for the myriad tips, tricks, and epiphanies you will discover about flavor and sourcing ingredients.

Oh if all problems could be resolved with a bit of magic! A nice play for a younger person or novice just dipping their toes into the works of the Bard. It's lighthearted tone is nice for seasoned fans as well. It is delightful.

I have tried to read the traditional versions of the play and only got confussed. The print of this is easy to read and it features definitions for words that maybe confussing. This is a complete version of the play with infomation added along. You WILL understand the play when you are done with this book!!!!

Too Pandering

I was initially excited to read a book written by a young woman for young women (and men) about feminism, but I was quickly disappointed, I felt like it was geared towards someone much younger than me, I am 19, and that the tone was just pandering. By the 40th time you say "badass" it doesn't make the book relatable, it just detracts from your argument. I thought the book did offer a decent summary of feminism, but did seem to brush over topics, there was never any in depth analysis.

Provoking title, even more provoking content

Zeilinger addresses Feminism from such a fresh perspective. Though I knew the history of Feminism before I read the book, I enjoyed the refresher. I also enjoy her style immensely. I have loaned the book out to my students so many times that I will be in need of a new copy soon from the wear & tear it has received. I teach high school and college courses, and the content is easily accessible to all students, male and female, of both levels/age groups.

I like it when there are good sources

An interesting book, but I found no real citations and the ones that were cited were hardly academic works. This seems to be a huge problem. Even my Woman And Gender Studies 2 Intro Books that are supposed to be textbooks have no academic citations or bibliography in any real extent, it makes a person wonder.
