25th anniversary edition of the 15th anniversary edition

I love the Moosewood Cookbook. My copy of the 1977 edition is tattered, taped up and multi-stained.

When the 15th anniversary edition came out, I bought it so I could have a nice, not-falling-apart copy. Even though the cover stated "New Revised Edition". Unfortunately, the recipes had been edited, mostly to remove fat. Some recipes were gone altogether (e.g. Pakora and Tempura Vegetables). Others had eggs and cheese completely or partially replaced by other extra flavors; "Cheese Beans" became "Tart and Tangy Baked Beans", with cheese optional, an extra apple, plus molasses and cider vinegar. I tried both and liked the first much, much better, as with other recipe edits.

I bought this 40th anniversary edition for the same reason I bought the 15th. Unfortunately, there was no warning on the cover that I was getting the revised recipes. This isn't the 40th anniversary edition of the original Moosewood Cookbook, it's the 25th anniversary edition of the 15th anniversary edition.

I wish I could get a new copy of the original book.

Recipes have TONS of variety, simple preparation.

I purchased the Moosewood Cookbook last summer, during one of my many attempts to revive the "health" level of my diet. I'm so glad that I added this book to my collection.
The recipes use a wide variety of ingredients. So, you'll never get bored if you cook from it on a regular basis. The variety in the collection also allows you to make use of fruits and vegetables that are in season throughout the year.
The time required to prepare most dishes is under an hour. This makes the book ideal for weekday cooking, a time when most of us should be eating better, but don't due to busy schedules. I made the vegetable chowder for dinner last night. I needed about an hour total. The result was a delicious, healthy, lowfat meal in a bowl. Perfect for a hectic Wednesday.
Finally, I'd like to say that everything I've cooked from this book has tasted FABULOUS! I haven't missed the fat. I love the fresh ingredients, particulary the use of herbs. And I love the fact that I'm eating healty food that also tastes wonderful.
Hats off to Mollie Katzen and the Moosewood crew. This book is a godsend.

Even an omnivore can love this book

Look, all I wanted to do was start eating more vegetables, and this book is getting me to do just that. All the recipes are easy; very few call for ingredients I can't find in rural Nebraska; and, most importantly, everything tastes *wonderful*. Do NOT assume that only vegetarians will find this book useful.

I purchased the new edition with MyEnglishLab access code. ...

I purchased the new edition with MyEnglishLab access code. When I peeled away the sticker covering the access code, the complete code ripped away and I am unable to piece it together again in order to access the online lab.

I am going to be using the text for a course that I am teaching, but I don't think there is any way to prevent students from having the same problem :(

Great book to use to pass the PANCE

I can't say enough about this book. First of all the price is awesome!!! this book is half the price of the other PANCE review books and I feel like you get the same material. I also like it because I feel like it explains differently then the other PANCE review books, I have the James Van Rhee book: physical assistant board review, and I think that it is great, but it is in outline form. I like this book because it gives a little bit better of an explanation about each of the topics. The only complaint I have about it is that I feel like the subject matter in some of the questions in the book haven't been reviewed in that section. I felt like I got several of the questions wrong, or I got a question right not because of what I reviewed in the book but because of outside information. But I really like how it explains why the correct answer choice is right and why each one of the other answers are wrong. If you look at it as a learning experience and not to get down on yourself for getting a question wrong you can really learn a lot. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is studying for the PANCE. I used it in addition to the other PANCE review books but I really think you could use this as your only source it has everything you need.

My First PA Recert

I found it to be a well done book. I had used another book that realistically didn't cover
enough areas. What it did was done well, but the other book didn't even mention ortho!

PA for Dummies was well done. It covered many areas with Pearls throughout. I did write
them and provide a correction, they mixed up Heberden's and Bouchard's nodes however.
They told me the correct description which I obviously knew given I had e-mailed the correct
answer.

Overall a good text, now to use some of the sample tests they provide.

Excellent Guide for Handling Money Values

A good philosophical account about money, although initially when I picked it up from the library shelf I thought it would present tips on saving or making more money.

Full of examples from history -Jane Austin, Cincinnatus etc and it reflected my own ideas about money, as well.

Perhaps an outstanding feature of the book is its balanced and realistic (rather than idealistic) model. The author on one hand acknowledges the importance of money and on the other denounces the possession of a huge amount of wealth, if it is not put to good use. Towards the end, he talks about `inner wealth' where he discusses the example of Cincinnatus which I thought was quite powerful.

He carries a brilliant idea from beginning to the end about the differentiation of `money worries' with `money troubles' and I think I will quote this book in my future life because of this differentiation that I had never thought of before.

The author has been very honest in including a separate chapter in the end about his source of inspiration, chapter by chapter, in

the end.

The language was simple and style marvellous.

The only criticism was that at places the author went too deep into his descriptions, which sometimes became difficult to comprehend. However, this is due to my own failing and poor knowledge----perhaps a problem with any philosophical idea when read by a common man.

Simple to understand, but not simplistic

For most of my life, I've had a difficult relationship with money--either I spend it like there's no tomorrow, or I hoard it as if I'll never see it again. Any purchase I make, good or bad, I struggle with guilt. I've known that these attitudes I have are a psychological issue, but I haven't known where to start in figuring them out. Armstrong provided that for me. With gentle but firm words, he provides a safe place to explore what is a sensitive and emotional issue.

Well worth your time, and yes, money.

There are two types of money problems: "money troubles" and "money worries". The former relates to our immediate circumstance (bills, debt, upcoming payments), whereas the latter is our inner dialogue about our relationship to money: how much do we need, what is enough, will it make me happy, and so on.

This book does not address the money troubles question - for that, find some other books. However, even if money troubles is the immediate problem, you should still read this book, as it builds a great and practical framework for how to think about our "money worries". For example, as the author points out, first we should separate our "needs" and "wants": you may want many things but not really need them, and you may need things that are out of your financial reach. Having a good relationship with money is not about denouncing it, or seeking to making millions, but rather becoming conscious about how it helps us achieve our larger goals - i.e. how to flourish as individuals.

The book is easy to read and packed with practical examples and advice. Well worth your time, and yes, money.
